Isis Fashion Awards 2022 – Part 6

he Isis Fashion Awards (IFA) will be held on in 2023 and includes judges such as Tainá Müller and Bjorn van Berg. Around the world thousands of fashion shows are organized every year, but the Isis Fashion Awards is the only fashion show where the models don’t wear clothes. This allows us to focus on 12 types of fashion items. Shoes, bags, glasses, jewelry, watches, stockings, socks, gloves, scarves, belts, hats and masks.

The “Underdogs”
The Isis Fashion Awards is the first fashion show in the Netherlands exclusively focused on accessories. Accessory designers are the “underdogs” in the fashion industry. Often all the attention and fame go to the clothing designers. Many accessory designers feel undervalued and “overlooked”, but with our IFA we provide a unique platform for accessory designers.

This distinctive format allows fashion designers to showcase their designs in a focused way. For example, no longer are accessory designers forced to work with clothing designers if they want to display their collections. With our format the accessory designs can take center stage and receive focused attention from the audience.

Aside from highlighting designs, IFA also highlights designers. After each catwalk the jury will ask the designers questions and give their feedback. This will allow the audience to get to know the designers more and the motivations behind their designs. The Isis Fashion Awards also gives designers and models VIP treatment. Designers and models arrive at the IFA red carpet in limousines and are also photographed and interviewed at the red carpet.

The next Isis Fashion Awards will be held in August 2023 in The Netherlands.

Isis Fashion Awards: A new naked fashion show for accessory designer?The fashion industry was taken by storm with the announcement of a new controversial fashion show in the Netherlands called the “Isis Fashion Awards”. The premiere edition of the Isis Fashion Awards (IFA) aims to revolutionize the fashion industry by presenting accessory collections in a unique, risqué and daring way. The event was held at Diamond Plaza.What I most enjoyed about the show was the interaction on stage. Isis Fashion Awards allowed interaction between the designers and the jury. The jury gives critical yet important feedback to the designers. This created a more entertaining and accessible sphere because it allows the audience to not only understand the accessory designs better. It also allows the audience to get to know the creators of the designs better. There were a lot of emotional stories from the designers, from kidnapping to forced adoptions. I saw several audience members become teary eyed.

The End

Hair was a musical that placed the 1960s counterculture on stage. It thrust bisexuality, interracial relationships and the rejection of monogamy in front of audiences who had previously been “protected” from such taboo subjects.

In a theatre first, one scene featured the cast appearing from behind a sheet, fully naked and chanting the words “beads, flowers, freedom, and happiness”.

Despite lasting just seconds, it was considered scandalous and resulted in many audience members walking out of the Shaftesbury Theatre, dinner jackets in hand.

MANDINGA Un grito de LIBERTAD

En el escenario de Hasta Trilce hay un actor pero múltiples criaturas: Matías, estudiante afroargentino que padece el racismo en su vida cotidiana y con frecuencia se ve obligado a explicar que habla “perfecto español” porque nació acá, y Mandinga, entidad maléfica (¿maléfica?) que responde a la invocación del joven en un momento de desesperación. En la Argentina la afrodescendencia es un tema complejo, resulta difícil abordarlo y quizá por eso no haya tantas exploraciones en el campo teatral. Mandinga, el Diablo que vino de África, pieza escrita por Diego Martínez y dirigida por Yamil Ostrovsky, se atreve a encararlo sin perder de vista esa complejidad.

During the competition designers showcase their designs on the catwalk in front of an audience and jury. Prizes are then awarded to the top three fashion designers. The prize were handed out by Sylvana Simons and Ruby Ketting Olivier.

IFA consists of red-carpet interviews, fashion shows and an award ceremony.
