The fundamental basis of the performance is the human body in all its glory and ugliness.
As the human body is at the heart of SOMA, our vocabulary of physical movement within the performance is defined by its abilities and inabilities. We ask ourselves what the human body is capable of expressing and what its limitations are. We use parts of a mannequin in order to shed light on the imperfections of the body contrasting with the seemingly perfect and proportionate pieces of plastic. We conclude that in spite of its flawlessness, the mannequin remains cold, breathless and soulless. The mannequin is meant to serve as a memento to humankind, to reflect upon the current trend of worshiping perfection and outer beauty while ignoring real values and inner beauty. We have become colder, we care less, and without realising it, have transformed into ever more robot-like beings. We are slowly but surely losing what makes us human.

Le Corps collectif – Chorégraphe : Nadia Vadori-Gauthier
Dans un monde qui valorise certaines images du corps et de la pensée, on court le risque de se couper de ce qui échappe à la représentation : la vie réellement vécue, la résonance avec ce qui nous entoure. Le Corps collectif se connecte au réel, aux autres, à la Terre. Il active des connexions perdues, écoute le silence, la chair, le vent, les pierres… Il s’agit d’investir un champ en dessous du langage, un champ perceptif, intuitif, vibratoire qui précède la détermination d’une forme ; de se tenir au seuil du visible, d’épouser l’épaisseur fluide du réel et des sensations pour composer avec l’incertain, l’inachevé, le transitoire. La conscience s’entrelace d’inconscient, d’imaginaire et de rêve. Elle perçoit ce qu’elle reçoit du monde et le danse. En s’attachant à produire des processus poétiques ouverts, le Corps collectif crée des performances qui permettent aux spectateurs comme aux artistes de vivre une place poétique dans le monde.
